As a proud parent, watching your children grow up and carve out their own paths is both exhilarating and bittersweet. My daughters have found their own slice of paradise in Santa Rosa Beach, settling into their new homes, and it's a beautiful sight to see. It was actually shocking when they followed me here, but I’m so glad that they did. But they didn’t land in my exact town of Santa Rosa beach, they are closer than Colorado!
Recently, I took a series of photos that my youngest daughter will be using to decorate her new house. Each snapshot encapsulates the serene beauty and unique charm of Santa Rosa Beach, from the gentle waves caressing the shore to the soft, golden light of the setting sun. These images will not only adorn her walls but will also serve as a constant reminder of the place she calls home and the love she is embracing!
As I navigate this new phase of life as an empty nester, I find solace in capturing and preserving these fleeting moments through my lens. Lately, I've been exploring the allure of black-and-white photography. There’s something timeless and profound about monochrome images that color sometimes obscures. While the beach in full color is undeniably stunning with its vivid hues and sparkling waters, black-and-white photography offers a different narrative. It distills the essence of the scene, focusing on textures, contrasts, and emotions.
Choosing between color and black-and-white can be challenging. Color captures the vibrancy of the beach, showcasing its natural beauty and the serene blues and greens of the ocean. On the other hand, black-and-white photography brings out the intricate details and mood of the scenes, allowing viewers to see the beach in a new, more introspective light.
It’s a tough decision, but I’m finding that the choice often depends on the story I want to tell. For my daughter’s new home, the color photos might better reflect the lively spirit of Santa Rosa Beach, while the black-and-white images could add a touch of sophistication and timelessness. They will probably have some of both!
As I continue to experiment with both styles, I invite others to share their preferences. Which do you find more compelling: the vividness of color or the classic appeal of black-and-white? Each has its own unique way of capturing and conveying the beauty of our beloved Santa Rosa Beach.
In this new chapter of my life, as my daughters build their lives in this special place, I am grateful for the opportunity to capture and cherish these moments. The photos will always remind us of the beauty of Santa Rosa Beach and the love and memories we've shared there.
